For most applications, a range of 2 - 3 should give a comfortable sensation of tingling / buzzing that can easily be tolerated for long periods. People do vary in how much they feel, and each person will have to adjust the settings to suit themselves.

However, the duration of the application is also important for good results - and one should not increase the intensity at the cost of comfort if it means the treatment can only be tolerated for a few minutes.
